Hello,
Not trying to brag, but I am very at ease now with witnessing, having been saved by the Lord over six years ago. I hated to 'witness' as a witness, sharing my religion as I am now sharing Jesus under the power of the Holy Spirit. Friends in ministry recognized the boldness after it came upon me suddenly following a particulary amazing prayer session with a fellow believer.
He described it as 'hearing the heartbeat for the lost that the Lord Himself has'. I get goose pimples just thinking aobut it sometimes and when people see the light of Jesus in their eyes for the first time it is an awesome experience! Whenever there is a event or campaign I get invited to go or often lead prayer walking/witnessing efforts.
I have no idea how many have prayed with me. Sometimes two or three in a family, one time a waitres at a Cracker Barrel and when visiting her again another waitress prayed ro receive Jesus. Two ladies at a bar on different days (yes, I go where the sinners are! LOL). My mom and grandmother (a week before she died, 50 years a JW!) have both gotten saved. I am taking no credit as the whole thing is quite beyond me. The Lord has given me boldness and a quick insight into where people are at (with God).
I like to use my testimony in preaching for various churches and even do a counter cult ministry. All cults practice the same kind of schemes and scams. Satan has not much imagination, he is just consistently effective at using the same old hereies in religions. Gnosticism is just one that is repeated over and over again. That and confusing the nature of God, araianism, modalism, oneness. When you see a group claiming to be the 'only true Christians' or they harbor heretical doctrines that is the tip off that they are cults hiding behind the Bible. God Bless,
Rex

Yes, it would be a strange, surreal experience. My favorite member of the band is David Gilmour. My oldest son plays some of their music on his various guitars. I like to sing the Gilmour parts though my son can carry the higher range lyrics easier than I. My vocal cords are 25 years (lots of whiskey and smoke for a few years) older.
I got to see 'Floyd three times and a great tribute band, Aussie Floyd late last year.

Hi U.B.,
I found out just recently and had not been online for a good many days. I missed the threads completely. Syd has been an ever present figure in my musical life for almost thirty years. I am thinking about discarding the icon picture I use out of respect. Thanks.

I found out a few days ago. What a sad story and short life for a man who was far ahead of his time in rock and roll....I hope you are in a better place now. Goodby Syd. The lyrics from an album called "Saucerful of Secrets", the tune is titled below:
Jugband Blues
It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here
And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear That I'm not here.
And I never knew the moon could be so big
And I never knew the moon could be so blue
And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes
And brought me here instead dressed in red
And I'm wondering who could be writing this song.
I don't care if the sun don't shine
And I don't care if nothing is mine
And I don't care if I'm nervous with you
I'll do my loving in the winter.
And the sea isn't green
And I love the queen
And what exactly is a dream
And what exactly is a joke.

Can Warren Jeffs Safely Hide Behind Religious Freedom? Watchtower?
by skeeter1 ini heard on the news that warren jeffs defense is "religious freedom" which precludes the government from persecuting him.
he, apparently, strongly believes he is gaining god's glory by having multiple wives & marrying young girls.
he thinks these actions are ordained by god.

1) NO
2) NO
3) WTS hideous lies? No effect on them either. Cults often have a free ride in the media today. The World's Biggest Cult kills wantonly and with pleasure and the Stupid World of Political Correctness will not call it a cult! Go figure.

Why Did Adam & Eve Need An Immune System???
by enlightenedcynic inhere is a question i would like answered intelligently if possible.
i asked my wife and another brother during an informal gathering of friends and was given the typical "wait till the new system, jehovah will answer all questions" response.
for the last year or so i began to seriously doubt the existence of a "loving, caring god".

Uh James,
You are 'chasing your own tail.' We barely have any real, provable, complete knowlege of any scientific observations as it is. You can ask, "What if, Why is this," and so on forever and ever, never getting anywhere. Each one of us are unique human beings and are obviously of greater design than any other creature.
The Bible contains a lot of history and observations on man's faults, weaknesses as well as strengths. The Bible gives us a possible viewpoint from Deity. It offers an explanation but is not all encompassing, as can be readily observed. It does however lead us to one figure in history who we cannot get past easily. He is Jesus Christ and He is not allowing us to 'sit on the fence'. Each one of us has enough information to believe or not believe.

Interesting and ironic aspect of JW doctrine.
by MinisterAmos ini was reading the "news" on fark.com and one of the topics that came up was how some fundamentalists are refusing rabies treatment for their children based on some supposed scripture.
i suspect it was the same "old light" that the wt used to forbid true christians (meaning jw's) from being vaccinated.. the conversation turned to weird religious beliefs used to make children suffer and their parents to appear more "spiritual" as a result of that suffering (a weird kind of munchausen's complex if you ask me).
in the process up pop the dubs and blood transfusions.. an observation was that the martyred children are often placed on the cover of the wt literature or have articles written describing their spiritual strength; in other words certain people who have followed the rules are hilighted as being particularly "special" in some way.. just to make sure, i called up my book study reader who has about 50 years of serving the wt and asked him "why don't jw's celebrate mother's day again?".

Minister Amos,
If you really wanna get them on that question and answer ask them, "why is it not idolatry to put THE WATCHTOWER before God?" Then hold on and don't let them weasel out of a direct answer. Make them squirm.

Am I angry? Hell, yes!
by Fatfreek inwhy are departing jw's bitter?
i say the bitterness is directly proportional to the amount of emotional committment we made to their teachings.
if we accepted them wholeheartedly, the bitterness was immense as we discovered the lies and coverups, while getting the blame on the missed date predictions, and seeing the ever-increasing legalistic structure of the society, not to even mention the shunning by loved ones who still remain.

My advice is: just let it go. Forgive them for all that was done and is being done. That doesn't mean that you have to trust any of them. When we let our bitterness go and make a decision to forgive, though there is still pain a wonderful thing happens. The pain soon goes away. If we practice that in life with all persons then they have no real power over us. We are not reacting to their ignorance or malice, as we are in control of our own emotional mood. Bitterness can build up and leave us depressed and maybe even suicidal. It can affect us in many ways. The past is just that. We only have the future and the ever changing present.
